There are thousands of excuses that the US should tighten the rope around the neck of China. This does not need to be re-listed. However, what is the ultimate goal of all the actions up on China? To suppress its development? To seek a future military victory? To delay the GDP No.1 overtaken? Obviously none of this. The world is much bigger than the US. China could find elsewhere to boost its rapid development. Military victory? Kidding between two nuclear superpower. The third one is obviously shortsighted.

The actual goal of all the actions upon China is to guide its future development not critically harmful to the developed world, so that the world won’t have to experience another critical conflict between old superpowers and rising new powers, like WWI and WWII. The key is to make the next generation of both side less hostile against each other, and to guide them to have closer point of view to the common value of the human.

This have been very successful when President Carter and Reagen. They developed an continuous improving relationship with China and earned respect of the 60’s and early 70’s generation. Most of them had been adapted of the Western Democracy, and had been doing there best in China to demonstrate to the government that we needed democracy. This has been peaked in 1989.

However, afterward, the US gradually abandoned this strategy. For instead, it started to use all the means they still have control to humiliate the Chinese Government. For example, by selling high tech weapons to Taiwan, by bombing the Chinese properties abroad, by sending spy aircraft into Chinese territory, by casting sanction to Chinese companies, by unfairly blocking Chinese exports, by putting on high barrier on Chinese immigrants, etc. Those were supposed to reduce the credibility of the Chinese Government among Chinese people. However, seeing that their government was not able to effectively counteract to the asymmetric humiliation, was not able to effectively protect the right of its citizens abroad, the Chinese people, especially the new generation that was born 1974 or later, did not rise a feeling that their government is too weak to earn their support, as expected by the US politics. In the contrary, what the new generation see is that the US, as well as the whole western countries, are acting in exact way their ancestors did 150 years ago — to
neglect and discriminate the basic human right of the Chinese citizens. They concern all of these are annoyance, not only to Chinese Government, but also to them, personally. And they resolved that the only way to have their human right protected is to do their best to cooperate with the CCP government, given all the flaws, all the anti-human right facts, to fight against the western world. Under this broad environment, all publicity of democracy and western value are neglected. With such support from generations, especially new generations, you just cannot expect an internal collapse of Chinese Government.

From all of these minor teasing of China, the possible adaption of the western style value is being rapidly ruined in China. Now principally it has been the time for the 1960’s born generation, who has been agreed with the common values of western countries the most, to be on the critical leadership positions. However, they see the varible faces of the western, and the rising disagreement from newer generation, the only way they can choose is to follow suite of the elder generations. A critical step of China is being missed. 10+ years efforts are ruined.

If things hadn’t been like this. A China that can gradually adapt the western values, would be able to take a more peaceful way of developing without taking the advantage of depressions of the western, and the world would have been able to keep developing in peace.

Now bad things had been done. In the future, it is clear that China is going to find its way not so cooperating with the developed countries. Just like what is happening, it will more frequently show its muscle, mending its flaws, and take more advantage of the depression of the developed countries. If this trend cannot be reversed, it is predictable that there is not a winning solution for the developed countries. If they keep doing small tricks, they will be overtaken on one thing after another, until one day, they found that they have lost everything they could use to do the next trick. If they resolve of starting another hot war for a final strike, it would surely ruin both sides, and the leave the future to the hands worse than Chinese.

From President Carter to Reagan, the US took a face of being friendly with Chinese citizens, rather than the benefit Chinese Government got, Chinese people were gradually adapted with the western values, and started to think if there could be something better than CCP for China’s leadership. Afterward, the US turned back and started continuously humiliate Chinese Government, and set barriers to Chinese companies and citizens. These annoyances have successfully make the new generation of Chinese believe that the western values are selfish and nothing more than a disguised way of sabotaging China. The effect of counter-acts are surfacing and frustrating.

The resource of the earth is limited. To collaborate is probably the only future for the human beings. If the Obama administration is set to waste another 3-7 years on annoyance, the future of the human being is rather dull – either ruined in catastrophic conflict, or ruined in slowly exhaustion of resources, or even worse, taking advantage of the deeper and deeper depression, China and others would lead future colonization of the solar system, leaving the western, who has contributed to the development of modern life style the most, behind.
