Just heard that President Obama is going to slash the funding for going back to the Moon. As well, the sight of NASA would be drown back to near earth space.

This is simply a death sentence to the future.

The earth is limited, and we are running very close to its limitation of capability, of holding any more population.  There is nothing in the near earth space.  And near earth space stations are very hard to be supported because the cost of lifting cargos to there.

The only hope lays in the space of solar system beyond the earth orbit.  There are easy to reach resources from asteroids and comets.  Future techniques are supposed to construct self-sustainable space stations out of them.  All of this would have to be started from a double reinforced space project.

If the US abandons it, it is giving up hope.  Fortunately, the US is not the only country that has the ability of doing space launch.  Hopefully the others won’t follow suit, to leave the human being hope.
